The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, was a seminal event which changed the course of history for all. It was also a searing trauma still felt by many. This year will mark the 60th commemoration of that day. This presentation will set out the historical context, and will be squarely rooted in the evidence. The speaker concurs with the view that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. However, he is mindful of the fact that many aspects of this tragedy unfolded in a way which taxed credulity and the presentation will delve into those.

The Camino de Santiago, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a network of pilgrimage routes converging on the shrine of Saint James the Greater in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in northwestern Spain. The Camino Francés was traditionally the main route of this most important Christian pilgrimage during the Middle Ages. Thousands over the centuries have followed it as a path for spiritual growth, as penance, or to earn a plenary indulgence. By the 1980s pilgrims had dwindled to a few hundred per year, but in the last generation its resurgent popularity has attracted well over 300,000 annually.

Since the Norman Conquest in 1066 there have been forty-two reigning monarchs of England.* [Great Britain after 1707; the United Kingdom following 1801]. It would be refreshing to say that all had ruled wisely, honourably, and with noble distinction, but such has not exactly been the case! In fact, in addition to our cherished late Queen, very few have done so, or even come close. “Variety is the spice of life”, but perhaps not in the case of reigning monarchs! But the sayings and doings of Britain’s royal families do indeed make for a lively story over the past millennium!
