COURSE – LESSER-KNOWN WARS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY – 3.5

While most people are familiar with the two great wars of the past century, many additional conflicts took place during this time. Focus will be upon these lesser-known combats with emphasis on how and why they each started and the influence they had upon future wars. Some of the topics covered will include; the confrontation in Ethiopia that pushed Mussolini into Hitler’s arms, the hostilities in Spain and their impact on the Second World War. We will also look at how the two great wars have a direct connection to the smaller wars in between, and examine the evolution of weapons over this period.
