COURSE – PROBATION AND PAROLE-THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM – 14.1

After providing information on his experience in criminal justice, speaker Terry McDonald will cover the basics of the criminal justice system in Canada with focus on the difference between adults and youth, and the court process for an accused individual. Attention will then shift to the organization of criminal justice in Ontario, the sentencing options for courts, an explanation of probation, and sentencing of offenders to jail. We will then look at the differences between provincial and federal jail systems, followed by how parole works plus some common myths and changes over the years. Your questions will be welcome

COVID 19 SAFETY MEASURES

 

In accordance with the recent Ontario Provincial Covid 19 Public Health and workplace safety measure regulation, persons accessing the Encore facility will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide proof of vaccination along with photo ID. People may provide a negative rapid antigen COVID 19 test from no more than 48 hours before accessing the facility as an alternative to proof of vaccination.

 

Masks and social distancing restrictions will apply.

 

Bring a mask and your own water,

there will be no refreshments in the classroom.

 

We will have a medical grade air purifier in the classroom.
